Brief History

Cebu Catholic Television Network Channel 47 (CCTN) spawned from the vision of its founder, Nonito “Dodong” Limchua. After his successful stint in the cable business he decided to venture in healthy family relationship programs that supports and promotes Gospel values and bring the Catholic Church message to the people. Since he and wife Diana are devout Catholics, they have touched human hearts in their involvement in Life in the Spirit Seminars. It was at this point when they realized that such goal was not too difficult to achieve after all. Together, they shared their vision with the Archbishop of Cebu, Ricardo Cardinal Vidal and the latter supported them in their desire for others to see the face of Christ through professional coverage of events, documentaries and issues emanating from or concerning the Catholic Church. As later events proved, what was once a man’s dream became a couple’s vision and now a visible reality.

The company has dedicated and experienced professionals. Its people-mix was influenced by the type of leadership exemplified by the Chairman of the Board, President and Directors. Their collective capabilities personalize the standards of excellence, dedication, and professionalism that the company strictly follows.

The CCTN is dedicated to the advancement of truth as defined by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. Its mission is to serve the orthodox belief and teaching of the Church as proclaimed by the Supreme Pontiff and his predecessors. The goal of CCTN is to provide the means by which the various organizations within the Church will have a nationwide vehicle of expression in the vernacular as long as their spirituality remains within the theological context of Mother Church, this is best evidenced by the acceptance of Dogmas, Rules, and Regulation of the Church in all matters, but especially as they relate to the topics on which their television presentation is based. As the CCTN exists to provide a media for orthodox endeavors, this mission statement should be viewed as the basis of – or foundation for – this essential spiritual growth ministry, not as an attempt to censor any organization or individual. CCTN is committed to develop a variety of programs that promote the moral sense that gives order to LIFE.

The Role of the Catholic Media

Predominantly, the Philippines is a Christian country in the Asean region where other nations are Islamic, Buddhist, Shinto, Confucian, polytheistic and animistic in belief. The Philippines has served as Christianity’s lone citadel beneath the Asian skies and the light from which the gospel of Jesus Christ have been preached to other Asian countries. The blessings of his Eminence Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal to use CCTN 47 as a vehicle to provide objective and professional coverage of events concerning wholesome family matters or that of the church for regional audience makes the station an instrument in propagating the faith. CCTN 47 is more than just a group of statistics in Philippine media. The station together with the church through its archbishop, clergy and laity, is a dynamic voice for the good news of Jesus Christ especially in the most unchurched areas of Visayas and Mindanao. The challenge to live and proclaim the Gospel is daunting in any environment but especially so in both unchurched urban and countryside areas. The programs of CCTN 47 are well coordinated with the different parishes and various schools and universities. Such effort brings together the interest of both educators and students; clergy and parishioners to the programs of the station. CCTN 47 consists of independent professional journalists, translators, and information staff who bring to the masses issues and events as they occur. At the end of the day, it is expected that together with the Catholic Church, CCTN 47 shall have contributed to the favorable transformation of the viewers; that in the end, each Catholic parishioner shall have a strong sense of ownership and pride in their parishes and archdiocese.
